Challenge 2
Have you ever come across an old class photo? Almost certainly the very first person you looked for was yourself. You may have chuckled with embarrassment trying to figure out how on earth your mother talked you into wearing that sweater. It may be a good idea to hide that photo, so your friends don’t see it.
Things aren’t much different today; we live in a selfie generation where we take pictures of ourselves and send them to friends and family or post them on social media trying to draw attention to our daily lives in hopes of accolades or “Likes”. We still put our first thoughts on “Us”.
Maybe you’re Striving a noticeably active life full of adventure. Perhaps you feel a bit lost, and you are Seeking someone that will acknowledge your beauty. A goal-oriented person might be trying to Strengthen others’ opinions about themselves. Or you might be Struggling, living in a world trying to compete with snapshots of what seems to be the perfect lives of others. If you accept this challenge, you will put yourself last, yes last.
Challenge 2- Instead of getting attention from others, give yours to them. Do so in private, “But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly” (-Matthew 6:3-4, NKJV).
The Bible tells us if we make ourselves last on earth, we will be first in the kingdom of God, and there is a promise. “As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.” (2 Corinthians 9 :9-10, NLT).
Be intentional and joyful in your giving. It doesn’t have to be monetary—donate your time, volunteer, or help with tasks. Be creative and see the impact on your life after this month.
